How the Gers played

- By Brian Fowlie

(4-2-3-1)

WES FODERINGHAM 6

NOT his best display of the season but badly exposed by his defence at every goal.

JAMES TAVERNIER 4

OUT of position when Griffiths strode forward to score and failed to block the third goal. The debate goes on – is he a defender or a midfield player?

CLINT HILL 6

CAN’T be faulted for effort but says a lot about Rangers when a 38-year-old centre-back is the only one showing the grit needed in a derby match.

DANNY WILSON 6

HAD the unenviable job of playing in a defence that got no protection from a spineless midfield. Not the worst in a poor performance.

MYLES BEERMAN 5

WILL have learned a painful lesson – patience can sometimes trump passion. Kenny Miller had been urging him on just before he slid in and conceded a penalty.

JOSH WINDASS 4

ALWAYS willing to take the ball but lacking the composure to create openings. Conceded possession too easily.

JASON HOLT 5

SPENT most of the game chasing shadows and being out-muscled by the Celtic midfield. Often forced back into deep areas.

EMERSON HYNDMAN 4

LARGELY anonymous. Tried to up his game after the break but toiled badly. (JOE GARNER 57, 5. Needs service if he’s to have any value, none was forthcoming.)

JOE DODOO 4

INEFFECTIVE on the wing and replaced at half-time. (ANDY HALLIDAY 45, 5. Did his best to stiffen up midfield but failed.)

KENNY MILLER 6

WAS clearly fired-up after signing a new one-year contract and captaining the side. Always moving but often like a man on a sinking ship searching for the plug. Determination rewarded with a goal.

MARTYN WAGHORN 4

DOESN’T appear to have the composure needed at this level. Missed Rangers’ first clear-cut chance after 73 minutes when heading wide with the goal gaping.

UNUSED subs – Alnwick (Gk), McKay, Forrester, Bates, O’Halloran.
