How the Celts played

- By Brian Fowlie

(4-2-3-1)

CRAIG GORDON 7

HAD a quiet afternoon where he was mostly called upon to show his new sweeper keeper role and pass the ball forward.

MIKEAL LUSTIG 7

SCORED a great solo goal near the end but was allowed to waltz through the home defence before scoring. Didn’t have a lot to do defensively.

JOZO SIMUNOVIC 7

PERHAPS fortunate not to be booked for a flying challenge on Miller. Had a very comfortable match at the back.

DEDRYCK BOYATA 7

NEVER seriously tested in defence or in possession. Managed to add another goal to his season’s tally.

KIERAN TIERNEY 8

DIDN’T get caught up in the heat of the game and showed maturity beyond his years. Faced no threat from the opposition down the right.

SCOTT BROWN 7

ALWAYS at the heart of the action. Angered the Ibrox fans with a bang on Miller but found it easy to revel in a crushing victory. (EBOUE KOUASSIR 90, 5)

STUART ARMSTRONG 7

GLIDED through the game showing the confidence he has recovered under Brendan Rodgers. Not called up to do anything fancy. (TOM ROGIC 77, 6)

PATRICK ROBERTS 8

THE on-loan Manchester City man had far too much trickery for his opponents. Celtic will be desperate to have him back next season but Pep Guardiola may like what he saw.

CALUM McGREGOR 8

ANOTHER player who has improved so much under the Rodgers regime. Gets better with every outing and is showing the ability to be a regular starter.

SCOTT SINCLAIR 7

RANGERS found his pacey running so hard to cope with in the early stages of the match. Eased off a bit after the break because he didn’t have to bust a gut with the game won.

LEIGH GRIFFITHS 7

HIT a thundering shot for Celtic’s second. Never stopped running and made sure the Celtic fans weren’t fretting over the absence of Dembele.

UNUSED subs – De Vries (Gk), Bitton, Gamboa, Sviatchenko.
