Foran needs a favour from rivals

RICHIE FORAN is praying for Highland rivals Ross County to help keep his side’s survival hopes alive after taking another massive plunge towards relegation.

Foran needs County to take something from Hamilton on Tuesday night or Inverness Caledonian Thistle will be down after seven years in the top flight.

Even then they will need to beat Dundee the following night to ensure the relegation battle goes to the last day.

Following yesterday’s 2-1 defeat at Kilmarnock, Foran said: “It doesn’t stick in the throat that it’s Ross County, not at all.

“I’m sure County will go out and do everything they can to win that football game.

“So we need a bit of luck, we need a couple of results to go our way but then we need to take care of our business.

“We’ve still got a small chance, we’ll still keep believing and tell the lads to get their heads up and be proud of their performance.

“It’s just that big moments haven’t gone for us.

“I thought we dominated all of the second half and created good chances – all in all if we’d been playing like that all season we would be in the top six.

“If Ross County do us that favour I believe we can get out of this. That would add massive pressure on Hamilton going in to the last game of the season.

“So we need that result to go our way and if we can three points against Dundee then you never know.”

With Killie now officially safe and in line to finish seventh, Lee McCulloch is set to meet with the board to discuss his own future having been in interim charge since February 15.

He said: “I’d imagine a meeting or conversation will happen but I don’t know when it will be – whether it will be this week or after we get the games out the way.

“The win gives me lots of satisfaction.

“We were a wee bit nervy in the last 10 or 15 minutes but it shows how together the dressing room is.

“Now we want to go on and finish seventh to be best of the rest.”
