PAIN OF DAMIEN’S FAMILY

-

CORRIE MCKEAGUE’S family aren’t the only ones targeted by the couple.

Damien Nettles’ mum Valerie has also been trolled by the pair. Her son went missing after a night out with friends in Cowes on the Isle of Wight in November 1996.

Hampshire Police still believes he was murdered and its file remains open.

The last confirmed sighting of Damien – 16 at the time – was on CCTV in a High Street chip shop close to midnight.

Eight people were arrested in 2011 but later released with no further action.

A petition calling for Government funding, similar to that provided in other high-profile missing persons cases such as Madeleine McCann and Ben Needham, received thousands of signatures.

Distraught mum Valerie moved to Texas in the US, but has continued to raise awareness about the case.

Last November she was contacted by Andrew Ashman, who was using the online alias “Drew Scapegoat”.

A close friend of Valerie said: “He wanted to do something on Damien’s case for a blog.

“It got a little ugly as he and Amy intimidated supporters online and badgered them for detailed information about Damien’s case. They intimidated and maligned some of Val’s friends. They are insidious.”

Despite the distress caused, Amy continues to post online under an alias about missing Damien, detailing her doubts he is dead in a cruel posts. She also tried to befriend people who run the organisation Missing Adults & Children In The UK.

But the relationship quickly floundered with organisers claiming they were calling the police.
