- By tracey Bryce trbryce@sundaypost.com

IT’S meant to be a fairytale day, but there’s no doubt that the cost of a wedding can really add up.

Despite it being a day of love, the average wedding in the UK costs a heartbreaking £27,000.

However, with high street chains introducing budget bridalwear and accessories, there are always ways to cut back.

In the same week that Poundland launched a £1 wedding stationery range, what was thought to be one of the most lavish weddings ever, racking up a bill of £5million, was held at Oxfordshire’s Blenheim Palace.

The ‘no expense spared’ bash, which saw Folarin Alakija tie the knot with his model

girlfriend, included one million roses, a 12ft-cake and a surprise performance by pop star Robin Thicke.

Whether you want a ceremony that’s cheap as chips or WAG-style wedding, we bring you the best ways to beat – and blow – the budget.
