A SHIFT IN FORTUNE FOR ACTRESS ELLISE

I’M so happy Poldark is back on Sunday night TV and it was lovely to catch up with Ellise Chappell, who plays Morwenna, earlier this week.

Ellise told me she was delighted to join the cast of the popular drama.

As a young, jobbing actress she was on the way to the cafe where she worked between roles to ask for some more shifts when she got the call from her agent.

She says her mum and dad were even more excited than she was, as they are such huge fans of the show.

We had a laugh about how Poldark had turned the tables on the usual costume dramas by making the men the objects of desire and getting them take their tops off instead of the women.

Actresses have had to put up with that for years, so it’s a nice change to have Ross going bare-chested and Drake frolicking in the sea in his birthday suit.
