Catherine is looking forward to a quiet life

CATHERINE TYLDESLEY says her Corrie character’s love woes just couldn’t happen to her.

Eva’s relationship with Aidan has hit the rocks after she – finally – finds out about his on-going affair with Maria.

But the way Catherine would have handled the situation is very different indeed.

“If it was me, I would have packed my bags and left him,” she insists.

“I would have gone on a nice, long holiday to sort my head out then I would have come back looking absolutely amazing.

“I would go the extra mile to look happy in front of him and get on with my life. But obviously, Eva is very different to me.”

Despite the warning signs, Eva has had no suspicions about Aidan’s infidelity until now.

And Catherine says that’s all down to her nature.

“Eva often lives her life with rose-tinted glasses on and she likes to see the good in people.

“And Eva has been somewhat of a best friend to Maria, ironically, so she has not had any inkling.

“When Aidan has demonstrated stressful behaviour, she has just put it down to a busy work schedule.

“She feels completely sick, utterly destroyed. Eva has been cheated on by every boyfriend she has had and her dad walked out when she was three so she has already got really bad trust issues.

“For this to happen again is – that’s it now. This is seriously soul-destroying for her.”

At least now that it’s out in the open, Catherine reckons real life will get a bit quieter, personally.

“I have people shouting at me in the street,” she laughs. “And coming up to me in the supermarket, saying, ‘He’s cheating on you!’

“It’s great people take it seriously. “It’s great.”
