The Sunday Post (Newcastle)

AN old copy of a 1978 New Musical Express I found in my uncle’s attic had ads for records by bands such as Siouxsie And The Banshees. Siouxsie’s single, Hong Kong Garden was advertised as “b/w Voices (On The Air)”. What does b/w mean? – T.

In the days of 7-inch singles, the record would have another song on the reverse side of the disc, so b/w means “backed with”. Sometimes it was c/w, or “coupled with”.
