Solicitors for Older People Scotland can help you find a law firm you can trust

-

Finding a solicitor you can trust can be a difficult task.

But there is an organisation designed to protect the interests of older people looking for legal help or advice.

Solicitors for Older People Scotland is a group of Scottish law firms dedicated to providing legal services to older people in Scotland in a caring and sensitive way.

Many people put off doing the legal tasks they need to do because they are worried about the jargon or feel they would struggle to understand what they are being asked to make decisions about.

Thinking about and preparing for your future and the future of your family can also create extra stress, making the thought of speaking to a lawyer even more daunting.

But member firms of SOPS make a commitment to address the needs of older people in a sensitive and caring manner, and to act with honesty and integrity at all times.

This can include making visits to the client’s home or to see them in hospital.

And members commit to communicating clearly in plain English and to be considerate of hearing or visual impairments so that clients can understand the information presented to them.

Member firms work diligently for their clients and will do work on Legal Aid where possible. Where Legal Aid isn’t an option, SOPS firms make their fees competitive and affordable.

The main areas of work for the SOPS include (but are not limited to) wills, powers of attorney, living wills, trust administration, executries, estate and tax planning and guardianship and intervention orders.

All members are regulated by the Law Society of Scotland and abide by an SOPS code of conduct.
