Fred Flintstone, played by John Goodman, finally bags his dream job but it seems it could come at a price.

It could never quite be as much fun as the TV version but Ghostbuste­rs’ Rick Moranis provides laughs as Fred’s old pal Barney Rubble.

Wrestling enthusiast John du Pont (Carell) is desperate to win the love and respect of his elderly mother.

So he establishe­s a training facility and recruits Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) to spearhead his stable of talented athletes.

Jealousy, paranoia and sibling rivalry poison personal ties, culminatin­g in a senseless act.

Steven Spielberg’s ruthlessly efficient 1975 thriller swims back on to our screens.

Based on a novel by Peter Benchley, Jaws was the director’s first blockbuste­r and confirmed his reputation as a film-maker capable of entertaini­ng and engaging audiences.

John Williams’s theme sets our nerves on edge.

Scientist Will Rodman (James Franco) smuggles a baby chimp called Caesar out of the lab and raises the infant with his father, slowly realising that meddling with nature has repercussi­ons.

Many of Randolph Scott’s movies are now long forgotten, but he did star in a few memorable offerings, and this is among the best.

It belies its low budget to tell the compelling story of a drifter who arrives in a small frontier town and tangles with a crooked family.
