Irish eyes set to smile at Perth

- By Reg Moore sport@sundaypost.com

THERE is little between Irish raider Triolet and Wiltshire-trained Cesar Et Rosalie on official figures. But when it comes to stamina, Triolet is more reliable.

The rivals are likely to dominate Perth’s opening novice hurdle, over two-anda- half miles, which Neil Mulholland’s Cesar Et Rosalie tries for the first time.

Triolet on the other hand is a winner at today’s trip, when beating William Tynedale at Down Royal with ease.

Colin McBratney’s sevenyear-old can be forgiven for a seemingly disappointing effort last time, when stepped up in class at Roscommon.

Ballyvic Boru has yet to jump a hurdle in public, but we can take on trust that the five-year-old will have been well-schooled for his maiden hurdle debut.

Based on his bumper form, there is convincing evidence that the son of Brian Boru has the ability to win this modest event, if hurdles don’t get in the way.

He defeated an odds- on Kevin Ryan good thing at Musselburgh in February and the third and fourth – Amateur and CaptainWoodie – have won since.

Telkhelot will appreciate the return to two miles today, after an extra half-mile was a step too far at the last meeting, following a year off, behind Gold Chain.

His run in a Class 3 handicap in May last year at Cartmel, from Boruma on decent ground, gives him a good chance dropped in grade off the same mark.
