CAMILLA CHASES HER DREAM
How Strictly star reinvented herself in Hollywood.
AMERICA is the land of opportunity, where people go to make a new life for themselves.
California, especially, is where people really go to follow their dreams. I should know – I did it myself! Strictly Come Dancing star Camilla Dallerup is one of those who are chasing their dreams here in Hollywood.
The Danish stunner starred as one of the dancers on Strictly for four years between 2004-08, winning the competition when partnering Holby City star Tom Chambers in her final series.
Her ex-fiance is fellow Strictly star Brendan Cole, but their split – and the rumours about his relationship with Natasha Kaplinsky – made plenty of tabloid headlines.
Thankfully, the lovely Camilla went on to find love with husband Kevin Sacre.
And it was Kevin who helped convince her to pursue her ambitions across the pond. She’s now a life coach and motivational speaker.
“I always wanted to be a coach that walked the walk,” she told me. “I was in the middle of a speech telling people to follow their dreams.
“I came home that night and told my husband I was a fraud if I didn’t do this reinvention – which involved moving to America. And he said, ‘Let’s do it!’”
Camilla admitted, though, that a career change was difficult – but that dancing was something she could happily leave behind.
“I started from scratch, and I was careful not to tell people my background as I thought they would ask when I was going to be dancing again,” she explained.
“I made the decision to move on from dancing, so it was refreshing to come here and just be Camilla.
“I have kept a little toe in the door with dancing but I want to focus on my Reinvent ME Tour which is in the UK in September r and October.”
Dancing is in my blood, too. It never made it to my feet, but it’s in my blood!
I wondered how her husband Kevin was s adjusting from life in Hollyoaks to life in Hollywood.
“He’s completely reinvented himself. He’s e’s studied finance. He’s a very creative person on and he helps in my business, and he will probably still act.
“But he felt an eagerness to do something else.
“Sometimes we look back and it feels like we had a different life.
“It’s odd – but also exciting!”
