Restaurant REVIEW

BURGER KITCHN, 111 MAIN ST, UDDINGSTON

-

1 LOCATION

A new addition to the heart of Uddingston, Burger Kitchn (yes, that’s how they spell it) is 30 seconds walk from the train station.

2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Like an American diner – but classier. The exposed brick walls combined with cool birdcage hanging lights make for a funky feel. Food is served on trays lined with paper which adds to the vibe.

3 SERVICE

Unfortunately you can’t book ahead, but it’s not too busy when we arrive and are seated straight away. Nothing we ask for is a problem. The food service is fast and efficient, but we do have to wait a wee while for the bill. Great news is that, if you’re in a rush, they do takeaway.

4 MENU

Never have I seen so many options in a burger joint. As well as classic hamburger and cheeseburger, there’s chicken, steak and pulled pork. And there’s loads more to choose from – chicken wings with every type of sauce, salads and hot dogs. There are tasty options for veggies too.

5 TASTE

Awesome. The burgers melt in the mouth, come packed with onions and salad, and the crispy sweet potato fries offer more of a healthy option. The onion rings are great as a side. Washed down with a soft serve ice cream sundae and it’s the perfect meal.

6 PRICE

At £40 for three adults and two kids, it’s more pricey than fast food, reasonable for a restaurant.

7 AMBIENCE

It’s very relaxed…and popular with all ages, from families with young children to teenagers and elderly couples. It seems everyone loves a good, old-fashioned classic burger.

8 SOMETHING SPECIAL

The handmade milkshakes are great as are the ice cream floats, a fond reminder of the ’80s. And the extras you can add to your burger, from beef, bacon and black pudding to whisky and cheese sauce means you can create unique flavours.

9 TOILETS

Nice and clean, but bizarrely narrow.

10 VERDICT

The perfect place to meat up. 15/20
