‘We love the freedom a caravan gives you’

-

Jill McLafferty bought a caravan for the first time towards the end of last year – and insists she’s never looked back.

The 37-year-old now tries to get away as many weekends as possible with her husband Joe, 45, and their Border Collie.

The couple, from Dundee, purchased their trusty tourer from Perthshire Caravans and have since taken it to Scone, Alloa, Edinburgh, Kirriemuir and Monifieth.

Jill said: “We love the freedom. My husband and I used to go to America quite a lot and it was just costing an absolute fortune all the time.

“This is like going away for little mini-holidays a lot more often. We try to go away as many weekends as we can.

“We’ve got a dog that’s really active, so it’s great for us to go different places.

“We’re paying peanuts for these pitches, but they are in the most beautiful areas. If we were paying for a hotel in the same site, you would be paying hundreds of pounds.

“Our caravan is quite homely – I’ve been able to decorate it how I want. Just waking up and seeing beautiful scenery and being next to the water – that really appeals to me.

“It’s so good, the freedom it gives you. It’s amazing what you see that’s on your doorstep.

“It’s great – it’s so cosy and lovely, and you can relax. There’s a lot of young people at all these sites, which is good to see.”
