another tough team to play on Wednesday and we need to make sure we’re ready for them.”

Kilmarnock debutant Youssouf Mulumbu was delighted with his first game in Scottish football.

The only thing he wasn’t keen on was the cold weather, but he wasn’t the only one!

The former West Brom midfielder said: “I need to get used to the Scottish weather.

“I bought my own gloves – thick ones! But we won, so I feel brilliant.

“I played 60 minutes because I wanted to make sure I’m ready for Ross County on Tuesday.

“I just tried to give my team-mates some confidence and composure in the game.

“We stuck to the plan and played quite well.

“When you look at this game, you can see we can finish in the top half of the table. I really think that.

“We can work on more confidence and try to win three games in a row when we face Ross County.

“I feel I have loads still to show in football.

“I’m not old yet. I’m 30- years- old but I’m far from finished.

“I have been through a difficult time when I wasn’t playing and I want to help Kilmarnock for giving me this chance.

“When I get my fitness, I can do even better.” Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald blasted his players for their “ridiculous defending” against Kilmarnock yesterday.

The Jags have only won twice in 16 league matches and are showing no signs of getting away from the bottom of the table.

Archibald said: “I don’t want to dress it up – we’ve been beaten 5-1 by one of our closest rivals.

“We were in the game, but the way we defended for most of the goals, it was ridiculous.

“It doesn’t matter how you play if you defend like that, it was abysmal.

“The defending for the first goal was bad, three things we could have dealt with better.

“We scored with a wonder goal then we gave away a soft free-kick.

“The manner of the third goal was ridiculous.”

Thistle are still without five first- team players because of injury – Osman, Elliot, Booth, Bannigan and Dumbuya.

Archibald is only hopeful of Abdul Osman returning in the near future.

He went on: “They lacked a leadership and we needed to stand up and be counted.

“We might have our captain back soon, but we need the all- clear from the surgeon.

“Motherwell will be
