Still game: Brucie’s show returns

-

IT’S out with the old and in with the new for telly in 2018.

Or in the case of the Generation Game and Dancing On Ice, in with the old again!

The Generation Game may be synonymous with the late Sir Bruce Forsyth, who hosted the show in the ’70s and ’90s, but this new BBC version will be hosted by ex-Bake Off duo Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins when it returns.

The new version will include many features familiar to fans of previous series as pairs of contestants from different generations of families take on tasks in the hope of securing a chance to win prizes from the show’s famous conveyor belt.

And before that, next week sees the return of ITV’s ice skating spectacular.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are back to host the programme, with 12 celebrities learning how to dance on the ice.

Expect fireworks on the ice as the likes of Bake Off champ Candice Brown and Hollyoaks star Stephanie get their skates on.

Ice dancers Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are on the judging panel, alongside Jason Gardiner and Diversity star Ashley Banjo.

Hugh Grant will be the latest film star to make the leap to the small screen on BBC1 when he plays the late Jeremy Thorpe in a three-part mini-series A Very English Scandal.

ITV’s forthcoming lavish drama Vanity Fair could be an ideal Downton Abbey replacement.

The classic 19th Century novel by William Makepeace Thackeray is being adapted for a new seven-part drama.

And there’s another Saturday night singing show on the way to BBC1 – All Together Now.

It will see singers perform in front of a collection of musical experts called The 100.
