Of this world views and a relaxed atmosphere

- By Alison Gibb

Rachel says: “Our plan for the décor was contemporary, Scandi and modern.

“But every now and then we find ourselves softening and adding rustic touches to the scheme. I think the landscape is getting to us.

“The views from every side of the house are out of this world.

“We ‘ve taken to watching the fields and find the seasons fascinating.

“Who would have thought that watching barley grow would be so interesting!

“There is an existing orchard and even a tennis court. We simply could not ask for more.”

After a busy first year the family have taken a festive break and are hosting a gathering of family friends to see in the New Year.

Rachel reveals: “We’re preparing a traditional roast dinner for all.

“The kids like to get involved. Their job is to lay the table and collect ‘props’ from outside to decorate it, such as pine cones. They love to cook and are making gingerbread men.

“Hogmanay is really a continuation of Christmas for us. We like to keep it going.”

And when they family are not in the kitchen they’re enjoying country life – going for long walks, collecting eggs from their chickens and toasting crumpets over the fire pit.

There’s no going back for the Rowleys.

Rachel beams: “We’re just blissed-out really!”
