LOCATION

American diner in the town centre, alongside the many bars, eating places and quirky shops.

Smart exterior makes this wee business look really appealing. There’s a friendly welcome from the guys behind the counter – all hard at work over the flaming grill. The smell is so good we can’t wait to taste the goods!

servICe

We’re given menus, choose a table and order at the bar. The staff are pleasant and efficient. When food is ready, your name is shouted and you collect at the counter. It’s lovely to see and smell the fresh food being cooked and quickly served.

They promise 100% beef from local farms – All Beef. No Bull. No Mucking About! And they deliver with a good selection of burgers with added bacon and/or sauces or chicken fillets or greenburgers made from aubergine, served with goat’s cheese. The wraps menu has everything from salami to pastrami, ham to houmous, cheese to chilli jam. We loved the creativity – who could resist monster wraps named Amazing Grace, The Godfather or the adventurous Stevie Wonder (your server makes it up as he goes along!).

TAsTe

Without doubt the best burgers we’ve tasted and well-sized portions. Fresh, hot and packed with flavour, both the burgers and sides of chips and onion rings. The double cheeseburger and Blackhorn Chick (chicken fillet) were perfectly cooked and succulent. Really very tasty indeed.

Great value. Around £10 each for a meal that surpasses regular burger places.

AmbIeNCe

Compact place with a busy, buzzy, welcoming feel. Too draughty through the back where our table was though – we kept our coats on.

Do not miss the selection of sundaes (banoffee pie, fudge doughnut, lemon meringue pie...you get the picture) and specialty shakes too. Yum!

TOILeTs

Functional if a bit chilly.

verdICT

Excellent food – but needs a heater for the back room in winter. 17/20
