Lisp can deliver a King’s ransom today

- By Reg Moore SPORT@SUNDAYPOST.COM

Another Sunday of deep ground calls for great care. But Lisp, in the Fontwell opener, carries fewer risks than most.

Alan King’s hurdler has been given a guesstimate rating of 130, after being second in a juvenile hurdle and winning a novice event, last backend.

In the Plumpton victory he beat Gary Moore’s Knocknanuss two-and-a-half lengths, and that rival has since won a handicap, off 124, by seven lengths.

That makes the handicapper’s assessment spot on, and running to figures of that nature, should make following up a distinct possibility.

A few of the principles in the handicap hurdle over almost two-and-threequarter miles have been chasing and that includes Fourth Act.

Unlike the others, the son of King’s Theatre has good form over the smaller obstacles, but has been struggling with the handicapper.

A nice weight of 10st 7lb adds appeal and he races today off 118, having won off 126 over fences, by 11 lengths last February.

Keel Haul has slipped a long way down the weights, simply because he has been running badly, but two races ago he gave his fans real hope.

He was fourth to Crievehill on bad ground at Lingfield, beaten two-and-aquarter lengths, stayng on as if today’s slightly longer trip would help.

SELECTIONS

NAP – Lisp (Fontwell 1.10). DOUBLE – Fourth Act (Fontwell 2.10). TREBLE – Keel Haul (Fontwell 3.40).

LATE WIRE

All-weather fans might have a look at Amy Murphy’s lightly-raced Lazarus in the 10-furlong handicap. He was given a lot to do last time, when a close third, in a better grade. SELECTION Lazarus (Chelmsford 2.55).
