Restaurant REVIEW

-

Location

On the second floor of the upmarket Princes Square shopping mall in the heart of Glasgow, just off Buchanan Street. Handy after a browse or buying spree in some of the designer stores.

First impressions

The place is really thriving and we’re glad we booked ahead and got a booth at the back. There’s all the Americana you’d expect.

service

The staff certainly seem to know what they’re doing and, despite all the tables being occupied, service was attentive and quick. Our waitress was even American.

menu

It’s a big old beast, so sip a drink (plenty American craft beers) as you peruse. Starters include popcorn shrimp, calamari rings and a wings-and-skins combo. Big selection of burgers, hot dogs, steaks and ribs plus mains including tacos and seafood linguine.

taste

The Cajun chicken nachos, a sharing portion for two, was crunchy and spicy. The Southern fried chicken was crispy and the accompanying chorizo beans were nicely smoky. The pulled pork in the soft taco shells was real melt-in-the-mouth, although there is no way to eat them without mess! Big portions of both.

price

It came in at £55 for a sharing starter, two mains and sides and couple of rounds of drinks.

ambience

Despite being quite busy it wasn’t overly noisy and the music – fittingly the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Bruce Springsteen – was at just the right volume.

something speciaL

The kitchen boasts a Josper grill – an oven and grill combo – that’s designed to deliver the meat, fish and vegetable dished with a distinctive, smoky charcoal taste.

toiLets

Clean and tidy.

verdict

Both a good shopping stop-off and somewhere worth going to on its own.
