Big names sit out the Grammys

-

It is their 60th anniversary but some of music’s biggest stars will be missing from this year’s Grammys.

Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Ed Sheeran are not expected at music’s big night.

Taylor Swift’s record Reputation isn’t eligible till next year, Timberlake is rehearsing his Super Bowl show, and Ed Sheeran was nominated in the pop categories which are handed out earlier in a non-televised ceremony.

Canadian star Drake is boycotting the show after being relegated to the rap categories last year.

But huge stars like Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Pink, Elton John and Miley Cyrus are still all lined up to perform.

The ceremony, hosted in New York by James Corden, takes place tonight.

Stars Are expected to give a nod to the #TimesUp campaign, which has outed a number of stars in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal.

Supporters such as Cyndi Lauper, Kelly Clarkson, Rita Ora and Dua Lipa are expected to wear white roses to show their commitment to stamping out the abuses which have rocked showbiz.

Pop star Kesha will perform Praying, a song which addresses her relationship with producer Dr Luke who she claims has verbally and physically abused her, something he denies.

The big battle of the night will be between Jay Z and Kendrick Lamar for album of the year.

But with 84 categories, and Jay-Z having no less than 8 nominations, and Lamar 7, who wins is anyone’s guess.
