It may be the most watched sporting event on TV, but how many people will actually watch tonight’s Super Bowl in person? – M.

Minnesota’s US Bank stadium has a capacity of 72,200 for tonight’s game, Super Bowl LII between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.

That’s a long way short of the record, held by Super Bowl XIV.

In 1980, 103,985 fans saw the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the LA Rams 31-19 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

I’ve long been a fan of cop shows such as The Sweeney or Van Der Valk, so have heard the term quite a few times, but can you tell me the origin of a “grass”? –P.

There are two possibilities.

A grass, a term for an informer, may have its roots in the phrase, “a snake in the grass”.

However, it may also come from rhyming slang, as grasshopper is an old term for a policeman, or copper.

I thoroughly enjoyed Foyle’s War, starring Michael Kitchen and Honeysuckle Weeks. What has she been up to recently. – J.

Honeysuckle was in Foyle’s War from 2002 until the series ended in 2015.

Since then, apart from a TV series called The Five, she has been treading the boards, most recently in a production of The Best Man in which she played a character she described as: “A cross between Dolly Parton and Lady Macbeth”.

My granddad tells me Denis Compton played for England at cricket and football, an achievement unlikely to happen again. Any others? – I.

Denis played for Arsenal, winning the league in 1948 and the 1950 FA Cup and appeared in 78 Test matches.

Twelve men have played for England at both sports, including C. B. Fry, who also equalled the world long jump record.
