CARABAO CUP

Pep Guardiola has lost only one major final during his managerial career to date.

During his stints at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, his only defeat came to Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey Final in 2011.

This is his first final for Manchester City and he faces Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal. Wenger has lost both League Cup Finals as Gunners gaffer.

I expect today’s Carabao Cup Final at Wembley to be full of attacking football and both sides will be fully committed to winning the game.

I can’t see Arsenal wanting to sit back and defend – that is just not Arsene’s style.

However, such is the penetration, creativity and level of intensity in the City side, Arsenal may not have much choice but to defend for long periods.

Kevin De Bruyne may well dictate the flow of the game. But there is also quality in the Arsenal team and they have the ability to cause their opponents problems.

The outcome of the game is quite close to call but it is hard to see past City.

Guardiola has his team playing attractive and entertaining football, although they had a setback at Wigan Athletic last Monday night.

I didn’t see that result coming. But I do envisage a 3-1 victory for them today.
