Ann and wee Murphy are finally sitting comfortably

-

Ann Gouge and her faithful Westie Murphy are sitting pretty after Raw Deal stepped in to solve the mystery of some missing cushions.

Ann, from Houghton-le-Spring, Wearside, had forked out almost £1000 for new loose covers for her favourite settee and a matching chair, from soft furnishings specialists Plumbs.

A selling point for her was that as part of the deal she would also get three free cushions worth £50.

“I asked for them to be made in the same fabric and colours as the covers I had ordered and I was told that this would not be a problem,” she said.

Ann initially paid a deposit of £300, then a further £657 nearer delivery time.

She was delighted with the quality of the loose covers when they arrived – but the three extra cushions were missing.

Ann said that, over several weeks, phone calls and letters to Preston-based Plumbs went unanswered as she tried to find out where the missing items were. “It was very frustrating,” she said. “I love my covers and I’m really pleased with them but I had paid a lot of money for them and it was annoying that I could not seem to get an answer to what happened to the matching cushions. “It was not the service I expected.” Ann then wrote to Raw Deal and we contacted Plumbs on her behalf, who investigated.

As a result, the missing items were finally delivered to Anne. “We have supplied three, 18-inch scatter cushions as offered, free of charge,” said a Plumbs spokesman.

Anne is delighted – and Murphy is happy with his new, revamped favourite seat, too.

“Thank you so much, Raw Deal,” said Ann.

“When you got involved I soon got a call from Plumbs saying the cushions would be on the way.

“Without the help of Raw Deal we might still be waiting for them.”

Ann added: “Raw Deal achieved more in a day than I did in weeks.”
