One of the most famous sights in Bangkok. Worth seeing for the sheer scale and opulence of it. Take hats off before you enter.

FLOATING MARKET

Situated in Damnoen Saduak, dozens of wooden rowing boats float by, each crammed to bursting with colourful fresh fruit, veg and flowers. Expect to haggle!

CHINATOWN

It’s chaotic, busy and noisy – and home to some of the best street food in Bangkok. Or grab a drink and seat and just watch the world go by.

CHAO PHRAYA RIVER

A bit like the tourist buses in major cities, you can buy a ticket that lets you see some of Bangkok’s most famous sights and plan your own itinerary.

JIM THOMPSON HOUSE

A lovely house and garden memorial to the American who was credited with saving the Thai silk industry. He mysterious­ly disappeare­d in Malaysia in 1967.

SHOPPING

Whether it’s markets or malls, Bangkok has plenty.

LUMPHINI PARK

Bangkok’s parks are a great way to escape the chaos of the city. Go early morning to see lots of residents practising t’ai chi.

SONGKRAM

A yearly, city-wide festival in April which sees residents and tourists taking part in street parties and a giant water fight.

ERAWAN MUSEUM

A huge, three-headed elephant statue welcomes you. Then expect to see amazing buildings and gardens.

VERTIGO GRILL & MOON BAR

It’s 61 floors up and you can enjoy one of the best rooftop views in Bangkok while enjoying a luxury meal. Not cheap, but an experience.
