£1000 in goods delivered to businessman’s old address
Keith Searle feared he’d be more than £1000 out of pocket when goods he ordered online went astray.
He had shelled out £800 on a new laptop while also ordering a PlayStation game and purchasing perfume and a woman’s top as presents from popular online store, Very, based in Liverpool.
But when nothing showed up at his home in Dreghorn, Ayrshire, he contacted Very for an explanation.
“I received information that the goods had been delivered – but not to my home address,” said Keith.
“When I queried this with Very they claimed that not only had they been delivered but had been signed for as well and that I should contact the actual supplier about it.
“I duly did this and all they did was to refer me back to Very.”
Keith runs a small business and having access to a laptop is essential. His old computer was broken so he needed to obtain a replacement quickly. More fruitless phone calls to Very followed and in frustration Keith eventually contacted Raw Deal for help.
We got in touch with the company and discovered the goods had been mistakenly delivered to Keith’s old address in Southampton.
Fortunately the items were retrieved and have now been delivered to Keith in Ayrshire – plus he was given £60 in compensation for the hassle, and an apology from the company.
A spokesperson for Shop Direct, which operates Very.co.uk, said: “We’ve spoken to the customer, who has advised us that the items have now been sent on from their previous address to their current address
“We’ve said sorry to the customer for the service failings they experienced, and have sent £60 to reflect the inconvenience caused.
“We pride ourselves on our customer service and we’re looking into this case to understand how we can continue to improve, as well as investigating the circumstances surrounding the delivery.”
Keith said he was now delighted with his new laptop – despite all the delays.
“It took more than a month to locate my stuff and have it redelivered.
“A big thanks is due to Raw Deal for sorting all this out, as I had been getting nowhere.”
