£100 for Ann after fun in the sun is spoiled

-

Ann Adams finally has some satisfaction after a seven-month Mexican stand-off with TUI.

In September, Ann, from Galashiels, Selkirkshire, took off on a four-star holiday with her husband Alan to Puerto Vallarta, a sun-kissed resort town on Mexico’s Pacific coast.

She booked the 14-night trip with Thomson Holidays, now TUI, at a cost of £2088. The couple flew from Manchester.

On arrival at the Sunscape Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa, the couple were far from impressed.

“Our bedroom was really smelly and dirty,” Ann said. “After we complained, we were moved to a different room, but it was certainly still not four-star accommodation.

“We also found out that they charged locals 80 pesos a day to use the pool and sunbeds at the weekend, so we could not get near the pool.

“On top of that, we were told the resort had four restaurants when most nights only two were open and the food wasn’t good either. “It was a terrible holiday all round.” Ann felt that when she got back to Scotland, Thomson – which had since changed its name to TUI – weren’t listening to her concerns.

In frustration, she turned to Raw Deal for help. We contacted the company on her behalf and asked them to investigate.

TUI agreed to refund Ann £100 as a “gesture of goodwill”, which she has accepted.

“I want to thank Raw Deal for getting me something back,” said Ann.

A TUI spokesperson said: “We are sorry to hear about Mrs Adams’ holiday experience.

“The matter has now been resolved.”
