LEAGUE 2 ROUND-UP

-

Accrington have one hand on the League Two winner’s trophy after thrashing Wycombe 4-0 at Adams Park.

Kayden Jackson and Scott Brown struck prior to the break, while, Sean McConville made it 3-0 after 66 minutes, before loanee Offrande Zanzala netted his first career goal with a last-minute penalty as Stanley put the icing on top of a magnificent victory.

They now possess a six-point lead over Luton, who could only draw 1-1 at Carlisle.

Danny Grainger’s 13th-minute penalty secured a half-time lead for the Cumbrians, but Olly Lee hit back with the all-important equaliser, sending the Hatters into League One for the first time in a decade.

Morecambe are still in danger of being relegated from the Football League after losing 1-0 at Crewe. Sub Shaun Miller’s 88th-minute winner was a dagger to the hearts of the Shrimps, as a point would have all but secured their safety, although they still have a four-point cushion over Barnet, who beat Newport 2-0.

At the other end of the table, bottom club Chesterfield moved to within a mathematical whisker of a second successive relegation.

The Spireites were trounced 4-1 by fellow strugglers Forest Green, who went six points clear of the drop zone.

Lincoln stayed in the play-off places with a last gasp 2-1 win over Colchester, with skipper Luke Waterfall heading home in the fourth minute of injury-time.

Exeter and Notts County remain fourth and fifth following a 2-2 draw with Crawley and a 4-1 victory over Yeovil respectively, while Mansfield play-off hopes were hit by a 1-1 draw with Port Vale.
