The Sunday Post (Newcastle)

A masterclass from McGregor

- By Brian Fowlie sport@sundaypost.com

CRAIG GORDON (7)

Virtually a spectator in the first half, but showed his ability with a great save from Main’s shot just after the break.

MIKAEL LUSTIG (7)

Efficient defensively and always kept playing the ball into the danger areas.

DEDRYCK BOYATA (7)

A powerful display of defending against a rumbustious strike-force. Booked for hauling back Cadden with 10 mins left.

KRISTOFFER AJER (6)

Looked like he might be a little uncomfortable early on but grew in stature. ( JOZO SIMUNOVIC 76, 6. Kept things tight at the back.)

KIERAN TIERNEY (8)

Played more like a left winger than left back and did it fantastically well. Took some tough challenges and kept coming back for more.

OLIVIER NTCHAM (7)

Came up with a perfectly struck low shot that gave Celtic a decisive second goal. A powerful presence in midfield.

SCOTT BROWN (8)

Did an unbelievable amount of running for a 32-year-old playing the last match of a long season. It’s like playing with 12 men when the skipper is on top form.

TOM ROGIC (7)

The Aussie will be delighted to celebrate his new contract with a double Treble. Showed his danger with an early turn and shot (STUART ARMSTRONG 71, 6. Kept the energy levels up)

CALLUM McGREGOR (9)

A superb strike to put Celtic ahead. Left foot, right foot, then bang and it’s in the net. Just gets better and better.

JAMES FORREST (7)

Played up in line with Dembele and that meant not as many darting runs from deep. (SCOTT SINCLAIR 90, 5)

MOUSSA DEMBELE (8)

He was right up for it on this occasion. Too powerful for the Motherwell defence.

Unused subs – Bain, Roberts, Griffiths, Kouassi.
