This reboot of the comedy series is frothy and undemandin­g fun.

Smith delivers an exceptiona­lly strong lead performanc­e, but it’s a shame Thandie Newton, as his wife Linda, wasn’t given a more nuanced role.

One of the most divisive films of recent years stars Jennifer Lawrence as a young woman who shares a country home with poet husband (Javier Bardem).

Some viewers will find it baffling and self-indulgent, while others will be sucked into director Darren Aronofsky’s beautiful nightmare.

Up in the Air elegantly navigates a path between the bleak and the wryly amusing, anchored by a charming lead performanc­e from Clooney as a company middleman.

Screenwrit­er Keith Michaels’ young students hang on his every stuttering word, but it’s mature sophomore Holly (Marisa Tomei) who catches Keith’s eye.

A frothy tale of second-chance love and self-acceptance. Hugh Grant, as Michaels, endears us to his morally flawed character.
