Memories draw us all closer

-

Dear June

I haven’t had many problems, but in the last two years I have lost my lovely big brother and my dearest friend.

My brother and I were really close and my friend was the sister of my heart.

I miss them both so much and I wondered if they are around me.

Those we were closest to whom we loved dearly will always hold a special place in our hearts that no one else could ever fill.

They were such a huge part of our lives and will forever be missed.

They will remain close to us after their physical deaths as the bonds of love built over a lifetime go much deeper than just those felt within the restrictions of the physical realms.

Grief washes over us all in different ways after loss and it takes time before we begin to settle into a new normality, as we slowly begin to accept our loved ones will no longer be physically by our side.

Unfortunately, when the loss of another close loved one occurs within such a short period of time, it can set us back emotionally.

This inevitably means the time we would have initially needed to heal is extended.

Your lovely big brother and the friend who became the sister of your heart are only a thought away.

You draw them closer and are surrounded by their love each time you ponder on the happy memories you made between you over many years.

Dear June

My father died suddenly on New Year’s Day and our family has not yet come to terms with it.

My parents would recently have celebrated their 63rd anniversary and we all had a very sad day.

Does Dad know how much we miss and love him?

Was there anyone to meet him, as I can’t bear the thought of him being alone now. It would mean a great deal if you could provide some peace and acceptance.

Lynn, via email.

The healing process after a devastating loss takes time as you all adjust to life without him.

As time goes on, many wonder if their loved one is around them. When you find yourself doing this, imagine if the tables were turned and it was you who had passed.

Ask yourself, would you be around your family each day? Of course you would.

He is with you all and knows how much he is loved and missed. Your father would have been collected by a loved one and is now safe with family on spirit side.
