See how lucky England are

Like Pogba, Lingard is very much part of the new generation of footballers.

He is an avid user of social media and that won’t stop during the World Cup.

That is simply part of the landscape for 20-somethings in modern society. But the midfielder doesn’t want people to mistake that for him not being passionate about his football.

However, you can’t stop Lingard from smiling or dancing his way around the pitch.

Nor does the 25- year- old want to, as that enthusiasm will help him to produce his best out in Russia.

“You can always have fun, as long as when you step on the pitch, you are fully concentrating on your job,” he admitted.

“Before you go out there, you should know your roles and responsibilities.

“You must have a strong mentality to go out and win the game. That is what we do week-in, week-out.

“Off the pitch, of course, we have to be role models. But we’re young lads and we do what normal young lads do.

“Social media has kind of taken over everything and it’s a good way to get yourself out there, so we use it regularly.

“We’ll be keeping in touch with the fans at the World Cup, and giving them a little insight into what we’re doing.

“But you have to enjoy your football. You have to enjoy putting on an England shirt and representing your country.

“The preparation has been good. The boys have trained hard and worked hard and there were lots of positives from the two friendlies.

“We’re pushing forward and we are making great strides at the moment.

“But we know that as soon as we get to Russia, it will be game faces on.

“As long as everyone’s mindset is right, we’ll go into each game 100% positive to go out and win.”
