Scottish football again

“People are consuming football differently – my kids are totally different to me,” he said.

“My son drives me crazy. He has his head in his phone and I don’t think he’s paying attention to the game – but somehow he knows exactly what has happened.

“I think we have an unbelievable opportunity to be at the forefront and be innovative.

“Sometimes you’ll get it right, and sometimes you’ll get it wrong. But that’s how these things progress.

“I went to Sky, and they put some virtual reality goggles on us.

“I could be anywhere in the world and there you are – you’re at the game. I can turn around and you would be sat next to me.

“That’s for the future, but it has already changed in the time we’ve been here.

“It used to be they wouldn’t show goals on social media as they were coming in, and now they can.

“That’s fantastic because kids have a short attention span.

“They love the excitement and, for some reason we’re missing that. But we’re getting closer.

“BT Sport have been trying things out with rugby, interviewing people on the pitch, things that you think might be a bit dicey.

“But they’re your partner – they don’t want to make the product look bad.

“What they want is the excitement and drama you get when things are happening.

“Sometimes you get things you otherwise wouldn’t see, but that makes good TV.”
