House of Fraser is to close 31 stores. What would you do to bring shoppers back to the High Street?

-

People can buy cheaper online and it is delivered to you. Cheaper prices than online and free parking might lure back shoppers.

Margaret Gibb, Fife I fear department stores have had their day. Converting unused department stores into city centre apartments would go a long way to addressing the nationwide shortage of housing.

James Strachan, Aberdeenshire I still use department stores occasionally but since they now seem to cater only for ultra-slim young people, I can no longer find what I want. They would do better to cater for those of us who used them in the past.

Liz Kelly, Glasgow One word is to blame for these closures – internet.

John Grant, Oxford Local councils could ensure that high streets become popular again by reducing rent and rates. This would encourage them to be more competitive and encourage shoppers to buy locally.

Bea Smith, Doncaster I always liked to shop at House of Fraser but they stopped selling the brands I wear, so I went to shops that did. Department stores seem to cater for people with a rather strange taste in clothes.

Elizabeth O’Regan, Lincoln As a typical man, I hate shopping. It’s not my idea of a relaxing day, so I buy the majority of my clothes online. I do think High Street shops have had their day.

James Walker, Glenrothes With parking problems in many cities, online shopping is definitely for me. It is more convenient and your feet don’t ache.
