Still Game star Jane: My boys think I’m turning into Isa

-

Still Game star Jane McCarry says her kids think she turns into Isa at home.

McCarry plays local gossip Isa Drennan in the hit BBC Scotland sitcom.

But she admitted her teenage sons Alexander, 13, and Iain, 16, recognise the character sometimes in real life as she grills their pals for info on their lives.

She said: “I’ve two boys, Alexander and Iain, and they really enjoy Still Game.

“They love coming backstage at the Hydro and they love coming on set.

“They’ve been coming on set since they were teensy, playing in the bar.

“They know I probably will turn into Isa.

“My gran and Aunt Jean, and different people I know, are all bits of her so they probably know it’s in the post.

“I talk to all their pals asking, ‘ What are you doing today, and where have you been and are you going on holiday, and are you doing this, are you doing that? How did you get on in your exams?’

“They’re like, ‘mum!’ I’m sure they see Isa coming out in me.” Still Game focuses on the lives of evergreen Glaswegian pensioners Jack and Victor – played by show creators Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill – and their pals including Isa, Tam and Winston on Glasgow’s fictional Craiglang estate.

It aired for six series between 2002 and 2007, before returning to TV in 2016 following a sell-out run at the Hydro in Glasgow.
