Volgograd is the setting for a Foxes reunion

Tunisia fall into the category of dangerous unknowns for most England fans ahead of their opening World Cup game tomorrow night.

Just seven of their squad play in top- flight European leagues. But Gareth Southgate has been warning anyone who will listen that they are no soft touch.

The Eagles of Carthage were unbeaten in qualifying, and drew with Portugal and lost narrowly to Spain in warm-up friendlies.

One England player who has been paying close attention to them is Leicester City defender, Harry Maguire.

His Foxes team- mate, Yohan Benalouane is set to line up at the heart of the Tunisian defence.

Benalouane made just one Premier League appearance all season, while Maguire did not miss a single minute of action.

His consistent form earned him a place in England’s World Cup squad, and Maguire is concentrating on making a strong start in Russia.

“I haven’t asked Yohan about Tunisia and I’m sure if I did, he wouldn’t give too much away,” he says.

“He’s a good lad and a good player.

“I saw a bit of their game against Portugal and they are playing really well. It’s going to be a tough game as they have good ability.

“There are a lot of teams at the World Cup that you don’t realise how good they are until you see them.

“We are definitely not going to underestimate them. But there is enough talent and ability in our squad to take the game on and get three points.”

Two years ago, Maguire was on holiday with his friends at Euro 2016 in France supporting England. Now he’s ready to tackle the World Cup.

Having done so well since for Hull and Leicester, he aims to continue his fearless approach.

The defender has become a regular in the last year under Southgate, and he is battling with Chelsea’s Gary Cahill for a spot in England’s threeman defence.

“We’ re all really positive,” he states. “We are young and hungry and we’re going to play with no fear.

“In tournaments, you win a couple of games and you gain momentum and confidence.

“You can’t really set limits on where you want to finish because things happen and people all of a sudden start to believe. That is what we are hoping for.

“The manager has shown great trust to pick me in every camp this year.

“He has wanted me to learn and get experience. Now it’s down to me to repay him.”
