Following high-profile cases involving children with severe epilepsy, should medicinal cannabis oil be legalised?

-

It should have been legalised strictly for medical conditions years ago. I don’t believe cannabis should be legalised for the general public, though.

Gary Hopton, Fife

The drugs policy is chaotic. Methadone is supposed to be reduced so the person is slowly weaned off drugs. It’s a shambles and the Government has no idea how to fix the problem.

Ronald James, Angus

More research is needed, but the Government is dragging its heels. Anne Fletcher, Darlington

We need to move with the times and use whatever works.

Fiona Reid, Forfar

Much of the present policy is stupid. Smoking and drinking aren’t banned and both can be life-threatening if abused. If people want to take the risk of using a potentially hazardous drug, why should the law differentiate?

Liz Kelly, Glasgow

The Government should get its act together, update the system and stop people suffering unnecessarily. Margaret Brown, Rutherglen

It is time for it to be legalised, but only for medicinal use. I have a progressive neurological condition and would certainly like to try it.

Margaret Gibb, Fife

It is time to legalise cannabis oil, providing it is only available on prescription.

David Hillerby, Durham

Something requires to change, but I don’t agree with legalising drugs. Judi Martin, Aberdeenshire

If several other countries have legalised this drug, then surely it must be time to revise and change.

Norrie Mclellan, Portobello
