Back in the driving seat at last

-

Winston Vanderput has finally got his new car back and fixed free of charge after a six-week dispute with a dealership, thanks to Raw Deal.

In April, the 81-year-old paid £7,400 for an automatic used Ford B-Max from Marshall Nissan in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Within a few weeks the car started juddering so retired engineer Winston took it back to the dealership for investigation.

After almost two months, Winston felt he was getting nowhere with his complaint.

“I was really worried the car would break down and I would be stuck on the motorway,” Winston said. “It was obvious the vehicle needed a new clutch but no one seemed to be prepared to actually fix it and I was worried about getting a big bill.”

Winston, from Grantham, wrote to Raw Deal and we contacted Marshall Nissan on his behalf. As a result, the dealership confirmed that a new clutch would be fitted.

“The fault is covered under our warranty and Mr Vanderput will not be paying anything towards it,” sales manager Granville Clarkson said.

“We would also like to point out that we kept Mr Vanderput mobile throughout with a courtesy vehicle.”

Winston is delighted to be finally back on the road in his B-Max.

“I can’t thank Raw Deal enough for stepping in and sorting this,” he said.
