Son knows you visit daily

Dear June

My son died suddenly aged 23 last December. My wife and I are still devastated and visit the cemetery every day. Do you think he knows we still love and miss him dearly and that we will be there for him always? We feel tortured that we could do nothing to prevent his passing. Howie, Glasgow.

June Says

When someone we love so very much dies, we are left with such a feeling of overwhelming grief and helplessness at not being able to have prevented their death. The loss of a child is a very unnatural grief for any loving parent to endure. At present it is very early days in your grief, but as time passes you will gradually begin to cope and accept that your son can no longer be a part of your physical life but he will remain close by from the spirit side. He knows how loved and missed he is and how much of a huge void his departure has left behind. He also knows you visit his grave on a daily basis and are dealing with his passing in the only way you can. He is extremely close to you both. He will also be surrounded by those who love him and who are supporting him from the spirit side of life. The connection between a child and their loving parents can never be broken. Please know that one day you will all stand together as a family once more.

Dear June

Early on in our 60-year marriage, it became apparent things were onesided as my wife had several affairs. I stayed because I loved her. She found it difficult to show me affection and kept saying she “just couldn’t” and this was the case right up until she unexpectedly died. I’m very poorly and worry if my wife loves me and if she will be there to meet me and not be with someone else. JA, via email.

June Says

To have shared a lifetime together was a commitment required by both in order for your marriage to last 60 years. There have been many marriages where one partner might stray briefly. This does not necessarily mean they did not love their partner. It is possible to care for more than one person at a time. To me, her actions speak louder than any words and this will be proven when she is there to meet you when your time comes.
