Miller: Future is still bright for unlucky Livvy

-

Kenny Miller felt his Livingston team didn’t deserve to be knocked out of the Cup and promised fans his side weren’t far away from going on a decent run. The player-boss was convinced his players deserved more from this game against Motherwell, and the form of keeper Liam Kelly was another reason why he was positive despite the club not having won in three games. An upbeat Miller stressed: “We are on the right road. You look at that game today and you can see that we controlled long spells of it and didn’t deserve to lose. “We created some really good chances and can count ourselves really unfortunate that we weren’t two goals ahead inside five minutes. “Steven Lawless has hot the crossbar with a brilliant effort and then I’ve struck one and I thought it was in, all the way. But then Trevor Carson has managed to save it. “So, it all gives me encouragement for the weeks ahead. I’m quite upbeat, although I never like to lose any game of football. “We just need to improve on one or two areas. “We’ll work on that and we know what needs to be done. “The lads are not afraid of hard work and they are all willing to listen and learn. “They are a brilliant bunch of lads to work with and I couldn’t have asked for any better. “We moved the ball about really well and there was a real purpose to our play. We got some really good deliveries into their box and they had to defend very well to keep us out. “We also feel positive because we have Liam Kelly. “He is an outstanding young goalkeeper and I obviously know him from our time at Rangers. “He is brave and agile and can pull off exceptional saves. “But we also need to work on giving him extra protection so he doesn’t need to make as many saves every week. “Overall, we could have scored three or four goals and it just wasn’t our day. “Credit to Motherwell as they defended well and scored a good goal, from their point of view.”
