LEEDS UNITED maintained their impressive 100% unbeaten start to the season with a sweet 2-0 Yorkshire derby victory at home to Rotherham United. Goals from Luke Ayling and leading scorer Kemar Roofe did the damage as Marcelo Bielsa’s team made it three successive league victories. Ayling headed the home side into a 49th-minute lead, before Roofe put the contest beyond doubt. West Bromwich Albion ran riot as they thrashed Queens Park Rangers 7-1 at The Hawthorns. Matt Phillips gave Albion the lead against his former club only for Rangers to equalise five minutes later through Joel Lynch. Rangers were then overpowered after half-time with Kieran Gibbs, Jay Rodriguez (two, one penalty), Dwight Gayle, Phillips and Hal Robson-Kanu making it a magnificent seven. Blackburn Rovers secured their first win since returning to the second tier with a slender 1-0 victory away at Hull City. Bradley Dack’s solo strike ensured a memorable occasion for Rovers’ boss Tony Mowbray, who was celebrating his 600th game in the dugout. The only concern for Mowbray would have been when Dack went down injured, before hobbling off just before the hour mark. The result extends Rovers’ fine form and following promotion from League One last term, they have now lost just once in 19 league outings. As for City, they have just one point from their opening three matches and move into the bottom three. A stoppage-time winner from Billy Sharp gave Sheffield United a 2-1 win over Norwich City, with John Egan also scoring for the hosts and Jordan Rhodes netting for the visitors. An injury-time equaliser from substitute Hillal Soudani rescued a point for Nottingham Forest in a four-goal thriller at Wigan. Wigan had opened the scoring within the first two minutes through Nick Powell, although Matty Cash finished off a counter-attack move to level. The hosts retook the lead from the spot when Will Grigg smashed in his 50th Latics league goal, Ipswich Town and Aston Villa drew 1-1. Both goals came in the first half from Jonathan Kodjia for the visitors with Trevoh Chalobah replying for the Suffolk side, who had Tayo Edun sent off. Reading remain without a Championship point this season after they suffered their third successive defeat – 1-0 at home to Bolton Wanderers. Although Reading dominated the first half, Bolton introduced loanee Yanic Wildschut at half time and he slid home a cool finish for the winner.
