JOHN ROBERTSON admits his patience is close to snapping with some senior players after failing to kill off a 10-man team for the second league game running. The Caley Thistle boss lamented numerous missed chances as plucky Alloa twice came from behind to snatch their first point – and goals – of the Championship campaign. He said: “I’m asking our players for answers today. It is getting to the stage we’re thinking: ‘Are we being too loyal?’ Am I going to have to look to the young lads who have a bit of hunger and fire?” Caley Thistle gave summer signing Sean Welsh his first Championship start, while Alloa brought in Canadian Dario Zanatta, on loan from Hearts, for his debut. George Oakley had an early finish chalked off for offside, but Alloa were always dangerous. Soon after, Zanatta made an incredible run, scything through on goal before Caley Thistle keeper Mark Ridgers blocked his shot with an outstretched leg. But after 10 minutes, Liam Polworth’s corner found defender Brad McKay leaping to net for the hosts with a strong back post header. Almost immediately, the hard-to-pin-down Zanatta hit the net, but was also deemed offside. Alloa’s threat was rewarded after 33 minutes. Iain Flannigan’s freekick was met by the head of Wasps defender Andy Graham and deflected in off Oakley’s head. Zdravko Karadachki was then booked for a foul on Oakley and, from the free-kick, was adjudged to have fouled Coll Donaldson amid a crowded penalty box. With Karadachki sent off, Sean Welsh stuck away the penalty. Adam Brown’s trip on home substitute Ricky Calder brought a second Caley Thistle penalty, but defender Donaldson rocketed it against the crossbar. Just as the hosts looked comfortable, with three minutes left, Shaun Rooney made a foolish challenge on Jake Hastie wide on the left side of the box. Iain Flannigan calmly swept in the equaliser from the spot.
