ALLOA ATHLETIC 0 INVERNESS CT 0

-

Home manager Jim Goodwin felt his side were worth more than a point despite making it six matches unbeaten in the Championship.

“Before the game, if you had offered me a draw I would have taken it,” he said.

“On reflection, though, over the 90 minutes we were the better team, had the better chances in the game and I’m standing here thinking we have left two points out there.

“It’s a good point though, Inverness have quality and I’m delighted with the clean sheet and it’s another point in the right direction.”

An open and entertaining first half saw both sides go close.

First up, it was the home men with Dario Zanatta finding Kevin Cawley down the left-hand side, Cawley’s effort being palmed away.

Tom Walsh would then have the visitors’ best chance of the half, but his tame effort from 12 yards was easily collected by home keeper Neil Parry and Walsh was obviously unhappy with his effort.

Further chances would come for the home men as the game opened up, but neither Connor Shields nor Alan Trouten could convert.

The second half was no less of an open encounter with the Wasps on the front foot from the off.

The ever dangerous Zanatta then clattered the bar from 18 yards.

Caley’s resoluteness showed though as they weathered the Alloa storm and grew into the game, looking for a late winner themselves.

Joe Chalmers thought he had found a winner with a 25-yard freekick, but a late deflection took it inches wide.

Further chances would fall to Inverness substitutes Nathan Austin and Daniel Mackay as time wound down but the hosts held firm to secure a share of the spoils.

Visiting boss John Robertson commented: “I don’t know where to start, I thought Alloa deserved to win that game, make no bones about it.

“We didn’t get going, we didn’t pass it and get movement and they created lots of chances.

“The only positive I have is to congratulate our guys on the clean sheet.

“It’s a point we didn’t deserve.”
