Sir KENNY ON...

-

Receiving my knighthood on Friday afternoon from Prince Charles was a very proud moment, and a humbling experience for myself and my family.

Marina and I were very fortunate that our four children were able to attend the ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

I’ve been lucky, and the values instilled in me by my parents growing up in Glasgow stood me in good stead.

I was fortunate during my career to work with some great people, and for some great people.

I was blessed with the ability to achieve some memorable moments in football, stuff you genuinely dream about.

It has led to people stopping me in the street and saying: “Kenny, you are a legend.”

But I answer: “No, I’m not.”

You need to retain a sense of balance.

But if I have made people happy along the way, and given them something to smile about, then I’m grateful for that.

I’m also grateful to have had Marina by my side for the best part of five decades.

She’s been a wonderful wife and mother.

She has had her Cancer Foundation for many years, raising awareness and funds.

We’re both grateful to everyone who has played a part in our lives.

What happened on Friday is something to be shared with us by all of them.
