Amie can bring Kelso the feminine touch
In what has already been the year of the lady riders, Amie Waugh can add to the feminine touch in Kelso’s Borders National today.
She rides Total Assets for dad Simon, coming to the Kelso feature from a lasttime-out victory over the same marathon trip at Hexham.
Today’s 1-140 event represents a step up in grade, but the 10-year-old won easily at Hexham on today’s rain-softened ground.
With Amie’s 7lb claim, Total Assets faces the four-mile trek off a racing weight of 9st 9lb, up just 4lb from Hexham.
Xpo International fairly romped home in the mud at Carlisle last Sunday and, if he has physically recovered, can go again.
That was in a Class 2 race and, this afternoon he drops into a Class 4, with a 7lb penalty for his 12-length victory.
Although, at 20/1, there seems to have been no fluke as he streaked clear from Kelpie’s Myth and his able amateur rider claims 7lb.
Brewin’Upastorm has strong enough bumper form to suggest he can win first time up over hurdles, in the Huntingdon novice.
His fourth in a listed bumper at Newbury, following a win in the same code and a point-to-point victory, make him an animal of potential.
