Restaurant REVIEW
THE FALLS OF FEUGH RESTAURANT, BRIDGE OF FEUGH, BANCHORY
1 LOCATION
Heaven on earth! The view from this restaurant on the banks of Aberdeenshire’s breathtaking River Dee has been voted one of the best in Britain.
2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Understated elegance in a relaxed environment. This restaurant, run by chef patron John Chomba, celebrated wins as the North East Restaurant of the Year in 2015 and 2016, as well as Afternoon Tea of the Year winner in 2016 and 2017. It was awarded an AA Rosette in 2016 too.
3 SERVICE
On a cold, dreary day we weren’t expecting the restaurant to be busy, but it was packed. Mother and daughter team Lorna and Jade MacKenzie smiled their way through the rush.
4 MENU
Packed with quality choices and a range of prices. The Lunch Special was offering two courses for £16.95, three for £19.95. There was also a sandwich selection and a soup and sandwich combo.
5 TASTE
For entrees we went for twice-baked four-cheese soufle with onion marmalade and roasted beetroot, as well as Loch Duart smoked salmon with cucumber, shallot, capers and lemon curd. Both were delicious. Our mains were slow roasted shoulder of local grazed lamb, Dauphinoise potatoes, roasted shallots and red wine jus, and slow roasted beef shoulder, braised in Brew Dog Punk IPA, and served with mashed potatoes and red cabbage. Both cuts of meat were moist, and lip-smackingly good. Dessert was the best sticky toffee pudding we have ever tasted, and an equally impressive crème brulee.
6 SOMETHING SPECIAL
Try the Super Thursdays Dinner Offer with two courses for £14.99 and three for £19.99.
7 PRICE
We were just over £100 for lunch for three with drinks and considered it money well spent.
8 AMBIENCE
This place is tastefully and distinctively designed with a circular restaurant boasting huge windows bathing it in light and affording fab river views.
9 TOILETS
Clean and modern.
