Elizabeth Taylor, Queen Elizabeth, Liz Hurley, and Betsy the world’s most intelligent dog.

It’s hard to imagine a common thread running through the lives of such a diverse group of ladies – and, well, other than sharing the same moniker they don’t really have all that much in common.

But that hasn’t stopped the Beeb from turning a tenuous link into yet another comedy panel show. I can only assume the Comedians’ Pension Fund has run into trouble.

Fronted by the wonderful Sue Perkins, each episode of Insert Name Here explores surprising facts about famous faces, with a few jokes thrown in here and there for good measure.

Team captains Josh Widdicombe and Richard Osman are joined by an array big names, and compete to win the honour of deciding the greatest ever bearer of that week’s chosen name.

Personally I would prefer a cash prize, but obviously costs had to be cut after paying so many panellists’ salaries.

In between Taylor’s dog eating her pearl necklace and the rumours of a small boy impersonating Queen Elizabeth, there were a few laughs – but not as many as the canned laughter track would have you believed.

For me, the real highlight in the discussions of Liz, Lizzie, Elizabeth, Beth and Betty was historian Kate Williams’s input.

Producers take note: this woman is a gem and should be on every one of your programmes – even the 10 o’clock news. The fifth and final season of Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson’s hit show is back with a bang, and I’m savouring every second.

Now, if only I could go to NYC to share their adventures.
