Happy days as firm vows to track bill

-

Sandra Guntley is breathing a sigh of relief after Raw Deal stepped in to help resolve a number of frustrating issues she had been having with her power supplier.

The 71-year-old said she had experienced problems with Scottish Power since moving to her Edinburgh flat three years ago. She felt that she was paying too much for her electricity but could not get the company to send someone out to check her meter and electricity supply, or respond to requests for a smart meter to be installed.

“I pay Scottish Power £60 a month and I am the only one in the building to pay such a high amount,” Sandra said. “I changed from a direct debit to a standing order to stop them taking whatever amount they deemed necessary but I was still constantly being billed for amounts which I thought were too high.

“I repeatedly asked them to send someone to check my electrics and also asked for a smart meter but got no reply.

“I also requested for someone to come out to take some proper readings but they suggested I instead send them photos of the meter. The meter is at the back of a small closet and I can’t fit into the space. I am also not a photographer.”

At the end of her tether, Sandra wrote to Raw Deal and we asked Scottish Power to investigate.

Good news is that the firm responded and moves to rectify the issues are now under way.

Sandra said: “Scottish Power phoned and has arranged for a customer liaison officer to call on me and also for someone to come out to read the meter every six months. We shall then discuss the level of my monthly payments.

“The representative said that Raw Deal had contacted them and that was why she was calling me. I am impressed. Thanks a million to Raw Deal for your help.”
