You can even go for a swim while you’re there, if you can bear to leave the sun-soaked cliffside.

The easiest and most popular itinerary for visitors to Dubrovnik is the stroll around its fortifications. You can set your own pace, take an hour or an afternoon.

Game Of Thrones fans will enjoy the series tour, as Dubrovnik served as the location for the fantasy city of King’s Landing.

When you’ve finished sightseeing, rest your tired feet at city beach Banje, just a short walk from the Ploče Gate.

Or catch a movie under the stars at the Jadran outdoor cinema, nestled in the city walls.

Lokrum, an uninhabited isle on Dubrovnik’s doorstep, is an unspoilt isle lush with pines, palms and cypress trees.

Taxi boats take tourists every half-hour – you can be drinking a beer in Dubrovnik’s main square and be here in 20 minutes – but you can’t stay over. So just don’t miss the last shuttle!
