Pushy salespeopl­e, four-hour house visits and so-called “special offers” are still very much part of the industry. “You should never ask a customer to sign a contract on the first visit. That would put them under too much pressure. Plus, it’s so important that they are given a detailed written quote as windows and doors are custom-made products. They should have everything in writing, including images of what the windows and door will look like, before they are asked to make any sort of decision. “I respect my customers. The way I work is I visit for 10-15 minutes – not to give them a price, but to measure up and have a quick chat to discuss what the customer may be looking for. “Then, the next day, the customer receives an email from us with a detailed quote (we also post a hard copy to them). “Then we encourage them to come to Bellshill to our showroom to see our full product range and we show them everything, so they can then make an informed decision. “We also do not ask them to pay a single penny until the job is completed – and until they are satisfied after fully checking the job for themselves. customers are never put under any pressure and I think that is the fairest way to treat people. It’s certainly the way I would like to be treated in a similar position”
